Description: SyberJet Aircraft is seeking a Weights & Balance
Engineer with strong experience in aircraft weight management and
center-of-gravity (CG) analysis. The candidate will be responsible
for managing and controlling aircraft weight and balance across all
programs, supporting new designs, modifications, and certification
activities while working closely with project engineers, discipline
leads, and cross-functional teams. This role blends technical
ownership, project oversight, and regulatory compliance, and is
ideally suited for a weights engineer who understands the full
aircraft lifecycle, from early conceptual design through
certification and continued operational safety, and who has direct
experience supporting FAA Part 23 and/or Part 25 aircraft programs.
Key Responsibilities: Weights & Balance Expertise: Serve as the
company Subject Matter Expert (SME) for aircraft weights and
balance. Develop, maintain (database), and control aircraft mass
properties, including weight statements, CG envelopes, moments, and
inertia calculations. Perform and oversee weight impact assessments
for design changes, modifications, and new installations across all
aircraft systems. Support weight optimization efforts by
identifying opportunities for mass reduction while maintaining
safety, performance, and certification compliance. Ensure accurate
definition and control of empty weight, operating weight, payload,
and fuel configurations. Project Management: Lead weight
engineering activities across multiple aircraft programs and
projects. Develop and maintain weights schedules, milestones, and
deliverables aligned with overall program timelines. Coordinate
with project engineers and functional leads to ensure weight and
aircraft center of gravity targets are established, tracked, and
met. Prioritize and sequence weight-related tasks to optimize
program schedules and reduce technical and certification risk.
Serve as the primary interface for weights-related issues with
internal teams, suppliers, DERs, and certification authorities as
required. Certification Planning, Documentation, Coordination, and
Oversight: Support and oversee FAA certification activities related
to weights and balance. Apply 14 CFR Part 23 regulations and
associated guidance material to weights and balance compliance.
Define and document the weights and balance certification basis,
means of compliance, and compliance matrices. Prepare, review,
approve, and release certification documentation, including weight
and balance reports, loading manuals and limitations, CG envelopes
and mass properties documentation, ground and flight test support
documentation, compliance findings and approval artifacts Support
aircraft weighing activities, including planning, execution, data
reduction, and reporting. Regulatory and Design Compliance: Ensure
aircraft-level weight and balance data complies with regulatory
requirements and supports approved operating limitations.
Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure design changes are
properly reflected in approved weight and balance data. Support
continued airworthiness by maintaining accurate, traceable weight
records throughout the product lifecycle. Safety and Risk
Management: Identify weight growth risks and CG margin risks early
and develop mitigation strategies. Provide weight-related risk
assessments to program management and engineering leadership.
Product Lifecycle and Tools: Manage weight data, configuration
changes, and documentation using Teamcenter, Jira, and Confluence.
Utilize weight tracking tools, spreadsheets, databases, and
CAD-based mass properties to maintain accurate configuration
control. Support the use of MBSE methodologies as applicable to
mass properties and system-level integration. Leadership and
Mentoring: Promote a weight-conscious culture across engineering
disciplines and programs. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors
degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace
Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 810 years
of experience in aircraft weights and balance engineering. Direct
experience managing aircraft mass properties, CG analysis, and
weight tracking on certified aircraft programs. Strong knowledge of
FAA certification requirements related to weights and balance,
including Part 23 regulations and guidance material. Proven ability
to manage weight data across multiple projects and configurations.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability
to communicate weight impacts clearly to technical and
non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Experience: Experience with
Catia or Siemens NX and Teamcenter. Experience with Agile
Development using Jira sprint methodology. Knowledge of MBSE tools
and methodologies. Communication: Strong verbal and written
communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and
document technical information to various stakeholders. Team
Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment,
demonstrating strong interpersonal and leadership skills. What We
Offer Competitive salary and benefits package. Opportunities for
professional growth and development. A collaborative,
engineering-driven, innovative work environment. The opportunity to
work on cutting-edge aircraft development and certification
programs with a highly skilled team of professionals.
